Marigold Reception Topic Letter
A Mud Kitchen?!
Nursery children have been busy creating an outdoor kitchen! Re-cycled equipment such as crates, bread baskets, tyres and reclaimed kitchen utensils have been collected and transformed! The children measure and mix to create ”meals” made with soil, leaves, pebbles, shells and pine cones. Through this experience, children learn about counting, measuring and sharing as well as having the opportunity to explore the natural world. Oh…and it’s great fun too!!
Fun at the Netherton Activity Centre!
Children from Marigold Nursery had a wonderful time recently when they went on a visit to ‘Jake’s World’. They explored the many sensory experiences and equipment, and the soft play area too! Take a look at our photographs…

Welcome to a new school year! Take a look at our topic letter!
Mrs Rainford Mrs Benham
During our final half term of this year our topic is ‘Under the Sea’. The children will be finding out all about creatures that live under the sea and investigating the properties of water. We will also be focusing on the artist ‘Claude Monet’ to inspire our art work.
Also this half term we will be organising transition days when children will be visiting their new teachers and classrooms.
We will be saying goodbye to Miss Knapman as she finishes her final teaching practice. We wish her good luck for the future.
Wow! Look how busy Marigold class has been…
Marigold have really enjoyed our topic on Fairytales. The ‘Three Bears Cottage’ role play area has been very popular with the children. They have enjoyed making porridge, going to the library to listen to a fairytale and lots of children have been making castles with the blocks.
Happy New Year! Welcome to a new term. Take a look at what we’ll be getting up to throughout the spring term.
Spring 2013 topic letter
Marigold Foundation Stage is fully up and running now that all of our new reception and nursery children have joined us! We are delighted to see so many new faces each day, and to welcome new families into our school community. We have also welcomed new staff into our Foundation Stage – Mrs Benham, Miss Jones and Mrs Gill.
All of our children are settling in well to their new class and routines, which is wonderful. This term promises to be a busy one.

Marigold Class Christmas Performances!
The children are very excited at the moment as the date of our performance of the Nativity story draws nearer! They have been rehearsing, learning songs and making costumes.
There are two opportunities for family and friends to watch our performances. At 9.45 am on Wednesday 5th December in school, and on Wednesday 12th December at 9.30am in Netherton Library.
Sadly, we have to limit tickets to 2 per child for our school performances due to the high numbers of children we have in our Foundation Stage. Sorry.
Christmas is such a busy time of year in school. Not only are the children finding out about the real meaning of Christmas, our topic is Light and Dark. We are looking at books by Julia Donaldson – The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Stick Man. Along with the children, we have set up a wonderful role play area in one of our foundation stage classrooms, the gruffalo’s cave!
