Last year we entered into the ‘Read for My School 2013’ competition and won lots of lovely books for our school. All children enjoyed collectively reading over 250 books, both hard copy and e-books. This year it’s back and we are hoping to read even more!
Children in Y4, 5 and 6 have been given the opportunity to join our reading club on Thursday lunch times. They can also access their account at home using their school username and password.
Any school where 250 books are read collectively by pupils will get entered into a prize draw to win 100 books. But don’t stop at 250- the pupils who read the most will be eligible for regional and national awards and prizes! Any pupil who reads eight or more books gets entered into a prize draw to win books for themselves.
There is also a short writing competiton. As part of Read for My School, Pearson are donating at least 100,000 books to children in Tanzania via Book Aid International. To enter the writing competition, the children are to watch a video then write a short letter to the children in Tanzania about books and reading.
The competition will run until March, so let’s get reading…
