Key Stage 2 are really enjoying reading and learning about Charles Dickens. We thought that learning about his life and reading some of his books would be a fascinating way to learn about the Victorian Era – continuing on from our memorable trip to Quarry Bank Mill. Oliver Twist is definitely a favourite, with such extraordinary characters as Fagin, The Artful Dodger and Bill Sykes. But Lower Juniors have been practicing wailing and rattling their ghostly chains like Marley and muttering ‘Bah, Humbug!’ like Scrooge after reading A Christmas Carol.
I wonder which is the most popular?
Whichever it is, we’re bound to see some of Dickens’s creative genius rub off as we write our next Christmas Performance – set in Victorian times, of course!
