Maple Class Updates...

As a school we are always looking for opportunities and ways to educate our pupils on how to keep themselves safe. We have decided to team up with #kNOwKnifeCrime campaign and London Marathon 2024 and we will be fundraising for bleeding control kits and cabinets for outside our schools in Sefton.
We held a mini marathon event in our school this week where all pupils will participate in running 2.6 miles in our school grounds. For participating in this event all children will received a London mini marathon certificate and our school will receive a trophy.

On Wednesday 17th April representatives from Y5/6 took part in a relay event passing on a bleed control kit to The Grange. This is to demonstrate how we are working together to keep our communities safe and how we want our localities well resourced in the event someone is in need of medical assistance.

Well done to all the children involved and a huge thank you to everyone that donated!

23rd January

A micro:bit is a tiny, pocket-sized computer. It was created by the BBC. This term we have been exploring how to create code using Make Code. Students have been developing their use of some core computing concepts by coding and making practical projects including step counters, rock, paper, scissors and much more !

20th December

We had great fun out in the forest today. The children enjoyed exploring, using the mud kitchen and playing outdoor games. Others made Christmas decorations and some even made their own Christmas trees out of logs and twigs! We toasted s'mores on the camp fire and sang some Christmas carols. It was very festive and everyone enjoyed having fun outdoors with their friends.

19th December

Great non-fiction writing from Y6 this morning! All the children worked really hard!

18th December

Reminder: Forest School session tomorrow!

Children to attend school in old clothes with a coat please as we will plan to go out even if there's a little rain (although thankfully not forecast!).

Please also send in a change of trousers/leggings for the end of the day. If your child wishes to bring wellies that's great, just send these in with the children as they perhaps won't want to be wearing these all day long.

Thanks everyone! We're looking forward to lots of festive fun in the forest!

We did some tricky Maths today and all of our Y6 children worked really hard. Well done everyone!

These four children achieved 'Maths Master' certificates for their hard work, perseverance and growing confidence.

Multiplication tables played a key part in being able to understand and access today's Maths lesson. We are working on our multiplication tables each week in class but we will be sending home the children's 'TT Rockstars' website passwords tomorrow for any children who are able to access it at home.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button is also a great game to help practise tables online.

Today in History, when studying Ancient Greece, we learnt all about Athens and Sparta. The children were then able to write a comparison of the two very different city states. We awarded this week's Sparkling Effort Awards for great topic writing, well done girls!

4th September 2023

Attached is our Autumn Topic Letter with some information about what’s coming up this term.

Please note that our PE days this term will be Wednesday and Friday. It is important that all children attend school on these days in our school PE kit and not their own sportswear. On PE days, the children's kit replaces their school uniform and so it is important that they are wearing the correct PE kit.

To remind you, our school PE kit is as follows: a navy t-shirt with either navy shorts or navy joggers/leggings. Navy t-shirts and shorts are available from the school office at £2.50 each.

To keep warm throughout the day, the children can wear either their school cardigan, school jumper, plain navy hoodie or hoodie with school logo on (see below). Again, please ensure children are not arriving wearing their own branded hoodies.

Tracksuits with our school logo on are available from Prima Donna in the Marion Square. Please note that purchasing a tracksuit with the school logo on is not essential.

There will be no PE this week, it will begin the following week (Wednesday 13th Sept).
